All in Stitches Summer Time Retreat, 2008!
I would like to invite you to join me for a summer retreat at the Ironwood Ranch in Stewartville on Thursday-Saturday, July 24th-26th. This will be the perfect summer get-away! We will have a wonderful large room in a beautiful new building with plenty of light and windows set in a lovely wooded area. The sleeping rooms just down the hall.
The cost for the retreat is $150, which will cover the cost of your room, (triple occupancy), two evening meals and two brunches. You may opt to come the evening before and sew on your own or participate in a special “Christmas in July” workshop.
The retreat is filled on a first-come basis, as I will limit the number of participants. The sleeping rooms are air-conditioned, handicap accessible, and very roomy. Each room has a queen sized bed and bunk bed with a futon below. There are a limited number of roll-aways available, too. The retreat center is a non-smoking, non-alcohol establishment. Check in time is 1:00 p.m. on Thursday and check out on Saturday is at 4:00 p.m.
I will be teaching from Judy Martin’s Log Cabin Quilt Book. There are many, many settings for log cabin blocks, from traditional for beginners to blocks that advanced quilters will love. Anyone who prefers to work on their own projects will be more than welcome to do so and will receive all the help they need!
Log cabin quilts are especially fun at retreats. Once the blocks are made the fun really begins as we start to lay them out. The book we are using has many options to choose from. There are so many different settings that it will be hard to choose! More advanced quilters will enjoy the challenge of adding more pieces to give a unique look to their quilts! I will have kits available. Kits can be mailed to you if you want to pre-wash or pre-cut strips.
On Thursday evening we will have a mixer to get to know each other. Bring some show-n-tell for our Friday evening gathering. It’s a really nice way to get to know each other. We have a small kitchen available next to our sewing area for coffee and treats. Bring a snack to share if you wish. We look forward to giving you the time away that you deserve! It’s all about you!
